Lady Etiquette

Image
What defines a lady?  I desire to share my thoughts in regards to the notion as I am assured that there are diverse optics going around this subject. A lady is more than an elegant appearance, more than a chic outfit, more than refined charisma. It's a fuse of all former mentioned. Per definition, elegance is the quality of being graceful and stylish in appearance or manner. R efinement is cultured elegance in behavior or manner, sophisticated and superior-good taste. E tiquette is the customary code of polite behavior in society or among members of a particular profession or group. I believe those three values are imperative to contour a lady's profile and below there are some  recommendations on how to gain them: 1) Define and outline your values by knowing what you believe and why, still be opened to evaluate it when it's essential. 2) Respect yourself by cultivating a high standard of grace and elegance for yourself, be selective with whom you invest yo...

Confessions

Image
I wanted to write this post for some time now, and as Easter is celebrated tomorrow, I found the right timing to share my beliefs and how I got to believe what I believe.  When I was around 18 years old, I asked my own existential questions, interested to know if were we created by a bigger force or we were the result of an unplanned evolution, so I did my own research and thinking. I thought to myself that flowers don't have a mind of their own and also do not acknowledge or decide for themselves, still, they developed methods for self-protection such as thorns at roses or they have methods to attract insects for pollination as perfume or strong colors.  Evolution, DNA? Very well, I thought it’s all in the DNA. Now, what if DNA works as software, or more to that, what if DNA really is a “software” that a bigger force placed in everything in order for things to work and develop according to a master blueprint? Now, something I learned from physics is that planets follow well-d...

Visiting the snake pit? Here's how to tame the cobras

Image
Unfortunately, you end up in a position where you must interact with people you do not find pleasure in. People who constantly attack you or offend you, throwing insults regarding your life choices, your decisions, your looks, etc. They can be colleagues, "friends" and even "family". Here are some tips on how to approach these uncomfortable situations and make the cobras dance to the song you play for them: 1) No matter what they say to you in an offensive way, do not show anger as this will portray you as weak and lacking self-confidence 2) Use humor, even if fake. Laugh and then use whatever they throw at you, agree, and amplify it. For instance: "You're too thin! Eat more!" "True, I've been struggling to gain more weight but seems that my body prefers Victoria's secret look." When asked personal questions such as: "You're getting old! When will you have a baby?"   "As soon as I figure out how. I will keep you pos...

Scrambled eggs for breakfast | Expectations vs. Standards

Image
Let's go in with a bit of a definition.  A standard is a level of quality, a norm, while an expectation is a belief.  To make it easier to understand, let's exemplify. My standard for breakfast is for this to include scrambled eggs and my expectation is to find scrambled eggs on each restaurant's morning menu. Now, my standards will not always be met, also my expectations. I set my standards and it's up to me to have them met, so if a restaurant will not serve scrambled eggs for breakfast I will look and find one which does. But when it comes to expectations it's important to know how to set them correctly. For instance, it would be wrong of me to expect that a vegan restaurant will serve scrambled eggs on their menu so that is why I need to have this expectation only towards the appropriate types of restaurants. The same approach applies to people, or in relationships. For instance, one of my standards is to receive loyalty, so I will not expect this from people wh...

2021. First post for Alpha Tuxedo.  I must admit it's been a while since I wrote something, winter vacation, medical leave, and the need to fully recharge my creativity's batteries were behind this writing break. Now, I am back, with the desire to write more about the small, little things that count and that make life an interesting and beautiful journey.  I want to walk slow when everybody is running, to be present, live in the moment, and capture all this in my blog posts. I have few creative art projects in my mind that I would like to bring to life in the following months. My intention is to touch on some of my greatest passions: fashion and music.  Still... no spoilers! :)

My Unapologetic List

Image
There are things that I will never regret feeling or doing. Those things define who I am and at the end of the day, I just simply need to be Me. Like me for who I am or bye-bye baby! Anyway, let’s get into them: #Telling the truth I like being blunt & explicit. Why make things complicated when it can be really simple? Yes… I know that the truth is hard to swallow for most of us but damn if some can’t take it, that’s not my problem. #Telling how I feel I feel what I feel and I will express it…Oh yes, including lack of contentment with someone or something…  #Telling people no  Saying NO doesn’t mean that I am rude. Sometimes I just have to say NO because I don’t really feel like saying YES. #Removing myself from a toxic environment There’s nothing wrong with letting people know when they did something wrong or stopping them from taking advantage of me.  Liars, people who gossip, fake friends…. Who needs them anyway? #My life choices I live how I want, love who I want, ...

Venom lips! Gossip: A toxic hobby

Image
Usually, people who don't feel confident or happy about themselves, turn to gossip, and negative judgment of others. The root cause for gossip is 99% a mix of jealousy & insecurities. Another reason why people gossip is because they can't create entertaining discussions based on their knowledge or ideas. Below are ten reasons why gossip is toxic for you: 1. It will make you a BITCH with a lack of consideration for others feelings 2. It will show that you are jealous and insecure 3. It will make you less trustworthy 4. It destroys your integrity 5. It will ruin relationships and reputations (including yours) 6. Who gossips with you, will gossip of you 7. It hurts people 8. It's a waste of time and energy 9. It's guilt-inducing 10. It's heart bittering  What can you do to avoid gossip? Drop out conversations that lead to gossip, change the subject of the conversation, leave behind toxic people who gossip as a hobby.

#nothingtowear: solve the wardrobe drama

Image
I often used to find myself in this situation, where I feel as if I had nothing to wear even if my closet was full of clothes... Ok... now, what I did to solve this? Well... it's a three steps approach, it's also a great exercise to figure out your own personal style :)  1. I figured out my moods As I dress according to my moods, I figured out what are the most predominant moods that I find myself in. Those would be sexy, nostalgic, dominant, and of course... lazy. 2. I figured out the styles that go with my moods Now, as the next step, I tried to figure out which styles go best with my moods, so I got: Glam for my seductive sexy mood, a mix of classic and edgy for my dominant disposition, and casual for my lazy moments. 3. I put together representative outfits for those moods Last but not least, I decided to put together some outfits that I would always love to wear when I feel the way I feel. So no more wardrobe drama!

Dangerous Reads

Image
What would be the most dangerous thing someone could read?  Someone else’s thoughts. Sometimes it seems insane to even listen to our own thoughts, but to be able to read other people’s minds? I believe that would be both frightening and appealing at the same time.  We wouldn’t be able to hide behind words or fake smiles, the truth would be right there for us to see it.  Duality…what we think and feel versus what we let out. The real one is the one we keep on locked the inside. Anyway, even if we cannot read someone else's thoughts, we can definitely "read" them by observing their actions.  If what they say does not match what they do... then that's a red flag, baby! No matter if it's a friend, a family member or the life partner, words and actions should go "hand in hand".

Hi Gorgeous! How to naturally look breathtaking

Image
Honey, you are a  natural-born beauty so... why not flaunt it? Here are some hints to intensify and embellish your lovely features, let's get right into them: Add volume to your hair! Wash it with a volumizing shampoo, blow dry it from below and curl it via heatless methods, there are plenty of YT tutorials. You will look stunning! Spotlight on the eyebrows! Trim, pluck, and comb eyebrows. you can also tint them to make them stand out. The right eyebrow shape can totally brighten your appearance! Eyelash flick!  Curl those babies to highlight and frame your natural eye shape. It will give you a more fresh, awake look. Skincare rituals: cleanse, exfoliate, tone, moisturize, and hydrate your skin. I recommend using products from the same range in order to avoid mixing different ingredients that might give you redness or cause skin breakouts. Hollywood smile Whiten your teeth and use lip balm to hydrate your lips.  Neutrals Wearing neutral colors (sand, camel, beige, ivory, ...

#sexyisanattitude

Image
Yeah, yeah yeah... I am bored and also tired of our society stereotypes and the definition of sexy.  So many women stress over their body size, they stress over their bra size and so they get boob jobs in order to get a D, E, F size. They get lipo for a wasp waist, buttocks implants for a "healthy" trunk, lip fillers for plumper lips, hair extensions, eyelash extensions... Aaah... It's mind fuck over how many things they stress over only just to fit this society sick stereotype. The same thing happens with some men. They work on their six-pack abs, they work to get a nice ass car, and a pocket full of cash to spend on their "babes". But wait... What the fuck? Why? Who decided that's sexy and made it a norm? Ok, yes, I agree, looking good is appealing. I do believe that we should all work on ourselves to become and be our best versions, still, our society makes many of us feel unhappy, insecure, depressed by generalizing a size, a look as a standard.  Why isn...

Horror Love Story

Image
With  Halloween in just two days, I wanted to say that I was never a horror movie genre fan as I hate to get scared or feel frightened.  But I remember that there was a time when each Friday night, ProTv was streaming after the X - Files , a horror movie. So… I remember watching Poltergeist when I was a kid, I believe I was around 7-8 years old… and I watched it from the top of the living room table, holding both of my hands, each one on one of my eyes, staring at the screen between my fingers… I was afraid for the next two weeks after that, that the TV might suck me into it. I hardly wanted to watch any TV. :))) I don’t even want to mention The Ring … I stopped watching it in the first 50 minutes… Still, there is one horror movie that I love, it’s Francis Ford Coppola’s Dracula (1992). Besides that, it has Gary Oldman, Keanu Reeves, and Anthony Hopkins in distribution, and their acting is mindblowing, the movie it is a mix of romance as the plot builds around Dracula’s obs...

STOP Seeking Validation & Asking for Permission

Image
As social beings we need and want to be accepted by others, but how far will some go for acceptance? Some go so far, even to the point when they deny their true selves in order to portrait someone who is acceptable to the "tribe" they want to be part of.  But why baby? Why? Don't you know that if a pair of jeans don't fit, they still won't fit even if you try harder, and in the end, it will only make you feel uncomfortable? It must be exhausting to play daily the role of being someone else. I don't want to fit in if I don't fit in. I want to be liked for who I am and what I like defines me. I want to be real to what I like in order to attract similar values, personalities.  Stop seeking validation and stop asking for permission are some of the first steps to build up confidence. Stop asking for directions from people who were never there. Honey, you should be the one to decide where you want to go and if you want to go there in the first place. Sometimes y...

#lazy

Image
It’s just one of these days when all I want to do is to be LAZY… Lazy in bed, lazy on the sofa, actually… I want to be lazy anywhere I can be lazy, as long it is cozy & comfy. Guess it’s the season outside that got me in the mood that makes me want to stay under the covers, read a magazine… read? No, actually check on the fashion photography in there for self-inspiration. Yes, I am in the mood for jazz music playing in the background, lit scented green apple candle & drinking wine... Yes, white & dry for me, please. Even when lazy, I need something to do, something to keep me away from boredom so…  Here are some of my ideas on what to do when lazy: #1 Declutter phone, agenda, apps, photo gallery, etc. trust me, I bet that at the end, the phone will feel lighter :))) #2 Cleaning the Facebook friends list could be an idea… don’t want any “surveillance cameras” there :P #3 Another go-to is reading about stuff that you are interested in. I am currently learning more about ...

RANDOM: Jealousy, Intentions & Co.

Image
Since nobody owns anyone, one thing is for sure, there is no valid reason for someone to feel jealous, ever.  Jealousy is a useless feeling born out of fear and insecurity, that will eventually drain out the energy of the person who feels it.  If someone worries that someone else might come and steal away their partner, then maybe they should not be in that " situationship " in the first place. If you cannot trust your partner, the foundation is already broken.  Disclaimer: To avoid any fucked up feelings, look for someone who has the same intentions or goals as you do.  Want a relationship? Look for someone who also wants to commit and has a real interest in you. Chose someone willing to be loyal to you despite the fact that you both are surrounded by other "hot, take me to bed" alternatives. Get to know each other, build up respect & trust as those are the foundation for love. Butterfly feelings come and go but a moral foundation and strong character remain. S...

Beauty and the Beast - Animal Prints and Predator Instincts

Image
I am a huge enthusiast when it comes to prints that resemble the fur or skin patterns of predator animals such as tigers, cheetahs, zebras or pythons. Animal print handbags, footwear or even jewelry are e ye-catching and add interest to any wardrobe. Go for apex predator prints whenever you’re looking to turn heads in the urban jungle!

Mirror, Mirror on the Wall... Who's the fairest of them all?

Image
I am. And yes, of course, you are, she is, he is and they are too. We all are! Beauty comes in different shapes, colors, and sizes, still the World and Media tried to standardize it. This is a matter of taste and the truth is, some things can be standardized while some, simply cannot be. For instance, just because the chocolate flavor is massively preferred, that does not make strawberry or lemon flavor less attractive to the ones who enjoy it. Beauty is diverse and this is great, so let us all enjoy it! Comparison to others is toxic, the only person we are supposed to compete with is ourselves in order to better and grow. Ask yourself "How can I get to be the best version of myself?" and take action! Embrace what makes you unique, different. There is a saying " Nobody is you and that is your power "! Alpha Tuxedo: Elegance Untamed

Image
“I'll make him an offer he can't refuse." - Mario Puzo, The Godfather Undeniable refinement. Suits, tuxedos, black or white tie dress codes for sublime elegance. It's all in the cuts, the power lies in the cuts. Suits are a popular choice in the daily fashion of some, still, a tuxedo is a mode for exclusive events as galas, balls, weddings, etc. Black Tie dress code, as the name advocates, consists of a black tuxedo, matching black trousers, optional black vest, white shirt, black bow tie or if preferred, black long tie. The most formal dress code is the White Tie code. A black tailcoat, white shirt and waistcoat, and high-waisted, black tuxedo trousers are mandatory for this look. Memorable events do not take place daily, still, I believe that everyday looks can stand out as unforgettable simply by wearing elegant fashion pieces.  What do you think? Love, Andreea Carmen
